City with the world’s best weather which is always perfect temperature | Africa | Travel

One city is said to have the best weather in the world with travellers saying it is almost always the perfect temperature.

Dakhla in Morocco sees highs of well over 30C all year round with its average temperature settling around the mid-20s and weather experts say the city has a mild desert climate.

During its coldest month, January, temperatures are still as high as 17C and during its hottest month, May, it has seen temperatures higher than 40C.

The city is currently occupied by Morocco but is situated in disputed territory in the Western Sahara, with the partially recognised state of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic also laying claim to the area, leading to conflict between the two sides.

Dakhla is best known for water sports such as kitesurfing, windsurfing and surf casting with many travelling from far and wide to try their hand at the sports.

While the city is small, with a population of just over 106,000 people, it still has plenty to offer visitors.

Landmarks such as the Assona Mosque and the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, which tower above the city’s skyline.

One of Dakhla’s main culinary delights is its oysters which are highly sought after by high-end European restaurants. However, they are first sold to local businesses before then being offered to those in cities such as Marrakesh and Casablanca, with whatever is left shipped to Europe.

Those with a taste for adventure are well-served by the city, with quad bike and off-road tours also offered alongside the plethora of water sports classes.

Nature lovers are also in for a treat with Dakhla’s climate and environment making the perfect home for a wide array of bird species, which has led to a UNESCO proposal to create a Dakhla National Park.

Birds living in the area include flamingos, pelicans and gulls.

Those wishing to visit Dakhla themselves can get a return flight from London Gatwick in January for about £240.
